Post-Wall Berlin has already established an outstanding reputation for its public architecture, with buildings that include Foster’s Reichstag and Libeskind’s Jewish Museum. Now the domestic market is also making its mark.

Long-established German developer Ralf Schmitz has taken Paris as its model and, collaborating with Italian luxury brand Bottega Veneta, created Eisenzahn 1(; from €2.2m to €8.5m), 12 exceptional apartments in keeping with Berlin’s historic heyday. With high ceilings, oak flooring and delicate plasterwork, these sophisticated heart-of-the-city homes also provide every modern necessity, from wine coolers and walk-in wardrobes to underfloor heating.
