Scandi-chic interiors: Fern & Grey

An online furniture hub brimming with midcentury-meets-Nordic cool

The current love affair with midcentury modern furniture and cool Nordic interiors continues to flourish, so the launch of a new website dedicated to whisking this particular aesthetic from manufacturer to doorstep stokes the flames.

Fern & Grey’s engaging collection of competitively priced designs, from dining and coffee tables to bookcases and mirrors, cultivates a clean and sleek look – with an emphasis on chic functionality. A tasteful tier of white, grey and rose drawers inside the Braden sideboard (£599, first picture), for example, is partnered with a storage area concealed behind lacquered sliding doors that contrast with its oak veneer body. Contrasting colours also give the Kimi low coffee table (£109) its edge: its natural oak legs pop through a black circular surface.

Combining good looks with practicality are the Ingram desk (£399, third picture), which stands on looped, stainless steel legs, and has two lacquered grey drawers on its oak veneer surface; the charcoal-grey Wilbur short shelf with its variously sized, open compartments (£319, second picture) and the metal-framed Odin sideboard (£799), with its asymmetrical black oak and walnut veneer façade.

Most orders will arrive within a week, reassuringly underpinned by a 30-day, no-quibble returns policy. And there’s plenty more to come – sofas, armchairs and bedroom furniture will be introduced before the end of the year.
