Swoon Editions is well-known for supplying its client base with a daily diet of desirable, hand-crafted furniture. But the company’s founders Debbie Williamson and Brian Harrison have developed the idea and are now launching a weekly project – Designer Editions. This will see a series of exciting and innovative collaborations with international print and textile designers, who will each rework one of Swoon Editions’ bestselling pieces. Each will be available as a limited edition of about 10.
This week’s inaugural piece is the 1950s-inspired Carnaby chair (£399, pictured) upholstered in a sophisticated, geometric print designed by Claire Gaudion, a rising star on the printed-textile scene, and comprising soft grey, white, yellow, gold and blush-pink triangles. It is a thing of striking beauty.
Gaudion’s take on the Carnaby chair will be followed by Michelle Mason’s version of the Benny ottoman on April 27. Mason’s signature style is bold and bright, so expect something vibrant and retro. Other highlights to look out for include the French-style Lille armchair recovered by Louise Body on April 20, a designer best known for her exquisite, painterly wallpapers.
Anyone can buy from Swoon Editions, but the site’s community of insiders are introduced to new products first via a daily email, so if rare and interestingly upholstered chairs are your thing, you’d be best advised to sign up pronto.
