Upping the tablescape ante just in time for the festive season is Alice Naylor-Leyland. While her Instagram account details her obsession with beautifully dressed tables, as created at her grand, chintz-laden Regency house in Cambridgeshire, now the fashion muse and über-hostess has set up a service selling everything you need to recreate her pretty and whimsical schemes – down to the last tumbler.
Her eponymous brand launches with the green and silvery gold Winter Woodland collection, which features candles and mercury-glass candlesticks, bud vases, fleur-de-lys water glasses, scalloped-edge placemats and napkins, with coordinating velvet napkin bows, of course. The two-box, four-place set (£280) also comes with velvet-trimmed crackers and a smattering of fun accessories – or “festive friends”, as she calls them. Colourful Nutcracker characters, frosted fir trees and sparkly silver reindeer transform her tables into mini stage sets.
With a knack for colour-theming and layering, Naylor-Leyland proffers styling tips on her website, as well as selling extras such as bamboo-handled cutlery (£70 for a set of four), crafted by Parisian maker Sabre, or cabbage-leaf crockery (from £28 for a starter plate), handpainted by Aude Clément.
