When Sandie Wallman relocated from Sweden to Cornwall to renovate an old property, she couldn’t help but want to bring a little bit of that Scandinavian cosiness with her. And it was while sourcing homeware directly from suppliers on her home turf that she came up with the idea for Nordic House – a pretty, white-hued online boutique dedicated to her finds.
Wallman’s Scandi-chic selection – ranging from large sheepskin rugs in pale grey (from £875) to geometric concrete planters (from £26) and black bottle-shaped metal candle holders (£9) – centres on monochrome shades, with natural metal and timber accents. The authentically Scandinavian designs, sourced by Wallman and her team, perfectly encompass the concept of lagom, meaning, says Sandie, “less is more” or “neither too little nor too much”.
The result is a combination of traditional pieces, such as a vertical wrought-iron log stack (£295), complemented by the more modern and minimal. There are functional and pared-back white Danish liquid-soap dispensers (£25) and utilitarian-cool kitchen cleaning sets (£45), as well as bar stools (from £165) crafted from raw teak with hand-woven seats and gorgeous rose-gold-effect stainless-steel cutlery (£165 for a 16-piece set).
