More than 1,000m of copper cable were used to make this 5m-high, 10-branched indoor tree (price on request), which appears to mottle and change over time, just as wood does. The mottling is in fact oxidisation, while the ongoing gentle movement of the branches is a result of their being suspended from fishing wire.
The piece is made by Andy Young of Create Bespoke Beauty, whose work is driven by a desire to celebrate utilitarian material. The copper wires used here were taken from electrical cables found at a scrapyard, and all had to be straightened out before being twisted back together by hand.
