Fundraising for a third Horatio’s Garden space

A cycle challenge and online shop support the Stoke Mandeville project

Following the opening of the second Horatio’s Garden this summer in Glasgow, blueprints are already being drawn up by landscape designer and TV gardener Joe Swift for a third of these therapeutic sanctuaries for NHS spinal patients. Fundraising for the Stoke Mandeville hospital plot kickstarts with a cycle challenge through the stunning Chalke Valley later this month.

Proceeds from the online shop also benefit the charity – as well as Bill Amberg-embossed gardening gloves (£18) and a collection of Emma Bridgewater mugs (from £14), products now include an Inkerman-etched glass bowl (£115) and a John Julian porcelain pestle and mortar (£110). In a further bid to raise awareness, the charity will host an Open Garden on September 11 at the original award-winning space in Salisbury, where British sculptor Simon Gudgeon’s bronze pieces will be on show.
