Post-holiday barolo burrata belly to contend with? A personal trainer is the logical solution, and there’s now a neat app to help find one. Peach matches clients to highly experienced personal trainers, with filters for location (it’s currently only available in London) and goals. Appointments (from £65 to £120 per hour depending on trainers’ level of qualification and experience) can be booked day or night and clients can often be at a training session – at home, the park or an appointed gym – within 24 hours.
Peach is the brainchild of Tim Hayes, who has been a PT for 15 years and personally selects all of the app’s trainers. “Due to running previous businesses, I already had a trusted network of trainers and on average I select one out of every 50 new applicants. They have to have a minimum of five years’ practice to apply. Those who I think will work, I meet face-to-face, and to be brought onto the Peach platform they need to attend a two-day workshop and successfully take a client through a lifestyle consultation and session.”
“Lifestyle” is an important element of the holistic Peach approach, which puts mental wellbeing at the forefront of the practice. Trainers give clients a lengthy in-person consultation about their aims and motivations, and try to shift the mindset away from purely aesthetic reasons for working out towards performance-based goals with an emphasis on self-esteem.
The app is currently only available on Apple devices, but an Android version is on the way and for now enquiries can be made through the website. The Peach Black Label Service is also available, where clients pay an annual or monthly retainer – price on request – in order to have access to unlimited training sessions. Select trainers can also make themselves available to travel with their client to keep them on the straight and narrow wherever they are – figure-wise, at least.
