New year’s fitness regimes step up a notch at new private members’ health club 3 St James’s Square, which is the first wellness club in the UK to offer a 3D body scanner and DNA body testing to create bespoke training programmes.
The personalised fitness routines, which take into account vitamin and mineral requirements, genetic training response and recovery rate, along with alcohol, salt and saturated fat, are thankfully also balanced with just the right amount of TLC. As well as a dedicated personal trainer, a team of butlers is on hand to shine shoes and press clothes. “Clients are greeted by one of the concierge team. By the time they reach the changing rooms, our butler is waiting for them to tend to their needs. For those who have chosen to have their gym kit laundered, it will be pressed and ready,” says founder Mark Chambers.
Opening its doors on Tuesday January 2, the club asks for a membership fee of £6,000, plus there is a £2,000 joining fee. “We will cap our membership at 1,000, and aim to have just 50-75 guests per day to ensure that all of our members receive the full service during their visit,” Chambers says.
The club’s fitness classes include momentum HIIT training and hatha flow yoga, while golf enthusiasts can hone their skills on a simulator, and PGA Tour professional Jeremy Kavanagh offers private coaching. Spa treatments range from neck and jowl sculpting to Carita and iS Clinical facials, and for more mindful pursuits, the Somadome is a personal meditation pod delivering music, light and colour therapy to revive and rejuvenate weary guests.
