The Dessert Bar at William Curley Belgravia, currently open on Saturday (12pm-7pm) and Sunday (12pm-5pm), is a wondrous place when what’s needed is a little something sweet without the fanfare of a full-blown feast. But those who have frequented the dessert bars of New York – ChikaLicious and Momofuku Milk Bar spring to mind – will know that late-night dessert dining is the most fun.
Stepping up to the proverbial plate, renowned chocolatier William Curley has partnered with Laurent-Perrier to launch a new Friday-evening dessert experience for the month of September – for what’s more deliciously decadent than champagne with dessert? With this light, fresh, elegant pairing, diners will be able to sip on bubbly while they watch the talented in-house team create colourful confections.
Individual puddings can be ordered from the list, but for the ultimate sweet treat, the five-course seasonal menu is pure nirvana. Starting with a refreshing bellini granita with poached peaches, followed by chocolate sorbet with cassis compote, the dishes turn from delicate bites to gooey delights: coconut rice-pudding with mango- and passion-fruit compote and ginger madeleines is a wonderful riff on a classic, and the irresistible pain perdu is paired with caramelised pears and almond-milk ice cream. And to end proceedings with a flourish, there’s a sesame-chocolate tart with raspberry sauce and jasmine ice cream.
William Curley has long been tempting us with exquisite handmade chocolates, pretty patisseries and the most divine desserts, but this might just be his best creation yet. Santé to the sweet tooth.
