The Ivy Asia St Paul’s – the latest offering from the Richard Caring family of restaurants – opens its doors in the heart of the City on November 18.
Executive chef Simon Gregory, formerly of Gordon Ramsay Group and the Ace Hotel in Shoreditch, will take the helm at the new Asian concept restaurant with an extensive menu. Highlights include starters of yellowtail sashimi (£13.50) and lobster with sansho pepper and shiso leaf butter (£35) and mains of dry-aged bone-in ribeye with miso smoked butter (£35.95); Thai seabass with coriander, lime and chilli (£18.95); and mussels with coconut, galangal and lime (£13.50).
The cocktail menu also has an exotic twist, from Shikoku Spritz (a blend of aloe vera juice, jasmine, Lanique rose liqueur, Beefeater gin, soda and prosecco) to Beijing Slings (made with Wyborowa vodka, Umeshu, jasmine, vanilla, lime, apple juice, cherry syrup and plum bitters) in addition to wine and sake selections.
Theatrical decor sets the scene for the experience – from the pink pagoda that greets guests at the entrance to the restaurant’s green onyx floor and antique gold mirrored bar on the first floor. A collection of antique samurai warriors will watch over diners as they take in the views of St Paul’s Cathedral.
