Norfolk comes to Mayfair on July 9, when chefs Tom Aikens and Nigel Mendham stage a one-off, six-course culinary extravaganza celebrating their joint-heritage at Dukes London’s GBR (Great British Restaurant).
The “Norfolk Boys” tasting menu (priced £125 per person) will offer locally sourced produce and seafood, paired with wines by the hotel’s Royal Warrant partner, Justerini & Brooks. Michelin-starred Aikens – known for his imaginative, sustainable cuisine – will join GBR’s executive head chef, Mendham in the kitchen to create appetisers of Norfolk gin and beetroot-cured longshore cod and King's Lynn brown shrimps, followed by Norfolk asparagus with a black garlic purée, cured egg yolk and fresh herbs. The pair will then serve Cromer crab with burnt celeriac, Blakeney samphire and spicy horseradish, followed by roasted cauliflower florets with Binham blue cheese, Biffin apple and Colman’s mustard, before a final savoury course of a 57-degree lamb neck fillet on pickled sea asparagus with baked organic Bagthorpe Farm potato. For dessert, expect a refreshing sweet of poached and dehydrated Sharrington Farm strawberries with lemon balm and basil ice cream.
Guests attending the event will have the opportunity to meet the chefs and learn more about their love of Norfolk produce.
