Fourteen Michelin-starred and Gault Millau-awarded chefs will take over Zurich’s Dolder Grand hotel from September 13 to 17 for gastronomy festival The Epicure, preparing eight-course dinners (from SFr698 – about £560 – per person) and hosting masterclasses on everything from healthy puddings to inventive cocktails.
The dinners will kick off with an Italian feast prepared by Niko Romito of triple-Michelin-starred Ristorante Reale in Castel di Sangro. The menu details are a closely guarded secret, but expect the self-taught chef to draw heavily on ingredients from his native Abruzzo region. The following dinner, on September 14, will come courtesy of Klaus Erfort from three-Michelin-starred GästeHaus Klaus Erfort in Saarbrücken, Germany, before takeovers by Christian Le Squer of Paris’ Restaurant Le Cinq (September 15) and Jacob Jan Boerma of Restaurant De Leest in the Netherlands (September 16), which also boasts a trio of Michelin stars.
The masterclasses will be held in the hotel on the Saturday and Sunday, with highlights including From the Plate to the Glass (September 16; about £55), a cocktail class led by Jennifer Le Nechet, 2016’s Diageo Bartender of the Year, and the Penfolds Journey (September 16; about £110), a wine-tasting session led by Switzerland’s Baur au Lac Vins.
The festivities will close with a Grand Finale (about £320) overseen by The Dolder Grand’s own Heiko Nieder and featuring a total of eight Michelin-starred chefs creating pan-European dishes, paired with wines – and with The Dolder’s impeccable Lake Zurich views.
