Combining art with British Empire-inspired cocktails in a “Summer Jungle” setting, Soho neon-art gallery and members’ club Lights of Soho – which exhibits the new generation of light artists, as well as established names such as Tracey Emin, Chris Bracey and Herr Nilsson, and street artists such as Ben Eine – will play host to an exotic, wild pop-up in collaboration with British soft drinks company Fentimans, from Wednesday August 10 to Saturday September 10.
LOS, as it is colloquially known, has become a hub for those in creative industries, including film, fashion, music and art, and this new series of events sees the members’ bar open to the public for the first time. Highlights include acoustic nights on August 11 and 29, with a collection of live performers, an interactive virtual-reality tech salon on August 16 and a poetry workshop and seminar about femininity in poetry on August 23.
Lighting up proceedings will be a vibrant array of works by neon artists. “We will feature a new collaboration with American chef and artist Tracy Lee Griffith [Melanie Griffith’s sister], who has created neon versions of her contemporary and very colourful skull art,” says Lights of Soho director and founder Tim Allen. Other featured works will include those by Gods Own Junkyard, Toni Gallagher and Adam Bricusse.
Eight bespoke cocktails (£9.50) created using Fentimans products include the Blushing Bulldog, made with Campari, Bulldog Gin, Martini Rosso and Fentimans Rose Lemonade; Refresh, a summery drop composed of Bulldog Gin, apple juice, lime, cucumber and Fentimans Elderflower; Rum Jigger, made with Bacardí, Cointreau, Orgeat, lime juice and Fentimans Mandarin and Seville Orange; and Fearless Treat, with Grey Goose, Angostura, lime and Fentimans Ginger Beer.
