Côte d’Azur glamour comes to the Gherkin

Searcys pulls out the summer stops for a "Sky Riviera"

Bringing Riviera charm to the City of London this summer is Searcys at the Gherkin (first picture), which will launch a sky-high summer installation inspired by the dishes, sounds and bonhomie of the South of France of the 1950s. Running from July 25 to September 1 (with bookings open now), the sound of the sea will greet diners on entering the rooftop restaurant (second picture), palm trees will feature throughout the space, and jaunty maritime-striped sunloungers will be set out so guests can recline and enjoy the 360-degree views of the capital from 180m above street level.  

Food will have a Provençal flourish (three-course set lunch menu, £45, and three-course set dinner menu, £55), including line-caught tuna nicoise salad, Tropezienne wild seabass, soupe au pistou à la Provençal, and a Marseille bouillabaisse.


A cocktail menu will be devised with Tanqueray No 10 gin: summer tipples (from £12.50) mixed with the fragrant botanical gin include the Slush, with Verbena tea, grapefruit and green Chartreuse, and the Provence Spritzer, muddled with homemade lavender cordial, Cointreau, Rosé de Provence and soda.
