New e-tailer The Z List brings independent design and charitable shopping together with an eclectic mix of unusual wares: paintings, photography books, sculptures, vases, jewellery and plant hangers – the majority of which are made in small batches or limited editions. Highlights include Amy Isles Freeman’s Little Blue Leafy Bowl (£145), which is handcrafted from beech with bottle-green graphic leaf motifs, and a fiery-orange leather cross-body bag (£395) by brother and sister duo Tinct.

Seventy per cent of proceeds go to the makers and 10 per cent to a local charity, likely to change each quarter. The inaugural nonprofit was Hackney Winter Night Shelter, where founder Sabine Zetteler and her team regularly volunteer, and it is now Help Refugees, a charity created in response to the humanitarian crisis in Calais.
