Ghurka USA teams up with The Gurkha Welfare Trust

Three handsome bags and a handy travel set launch at Fortnum & Mason

To celebrate the Gurkha regiment’s 200 years in the British army, New York leather goods brand Ghurka USA has created an accessories collection to benefit The Gurkha Welfare Trust. Launching next month at Fortnum & Mason are a three-piece range of travel bags (from £385), made from Gurkha fabrications in the regiment’s signature green and red, and the limited-edition Officer’s Field Set (around £20,000), featuring two folding chairs, a table, parasol, throw and cushions, all cleverly contained in a sturdy briefcase.

All proceeds from the Field Set and 25 per cent from the bags will benefit the trust, which was established to provide care for retired Gurkhas and their families. It also runs community-aid projects across Nepal and the UK: in the past two years, 65,000 people have received medical treatment, from cataract operations to GP checks.
