The phrase “eat your words” may usually have negative connotations, but not when those words are made of chocolate and part of the “chocalligraphy” programme at artist Rosalind Wyatt’s pop-up event Gallery of Words, running until June 18 in London’s West End.
Along with the rather quirky edible words created by renowned artisan chocolatier Chantal Coady of Rococo Chocolates, the pop-up will showcase works by Wyatt with a wordy twist – from text-covered fabric collages commissioned by Nicky Haslam (second picture: Freedom 5) to love letters intricately stitched onto vintage fabrics (first picture), most of which are available for purchase. Wyatt herself will also be available to discuss bespoke commissions.
There will be daily demonstrations of her famed calligraphy skills (Bruno Frisoni is a fan), which she creates using tools such as brushes and sewing needles. And, should you desire a little extra entertainment, The Wonder Club – the quirky London theatre company – will be offering a selection of text-inspired, short performance pieces featuring some of Wyatt’s wacky puppetry.
