To mark its 85th anniversary, British leather goods manufacturer Ettinger has produced a limited edition of 85 notebooks to support the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST). The royal warrant-holding printer and bookbinder Barnard & Westwood has collaborated with Ettinger to create the leather-bound books, which are embossed on the cover with an illustration of Nigel the Owl, the delightfully eccentric creation of British artist Rory Dobner (who has also worked with Liberty, Fortnum & Mason and Christian Dior). Dressed in a bowler hat with an umbrella lodged under his arm, the owl pays homage to the company’s founder, Gerry Ettinger, who used to sport the same look when he launched the brand in 1934. The notebooks cost £265 each, 15 per cent of which will go to QEST, which offers craft scholarships to students in the UK.
