Since her first visit to the war-torn Democratic Republic of Congo in 2011, the actress Robin Wright has become a powerful activist on behalf of the country’s female victims of rape and violence. Four years ago, she joined forces with designer Karen Fowler, a friend of over 26 years, to set up Pour Les Femmes, an ethical loungewear brand that raises funds to help vulnerable women in eastern Congo. They work hand in hand with the charity Action Kivu, donating all Pour Les Femmes’ profits to entrepreneurial projects designed to create sustainable change in the region, from teaching bread baking and basket weaving to providing sewing workshops and literacy classes. Highlights of the brand’s latest collection include a floral motif silk jacquard night dress (£360) and a crisp white and navy striped cotton voile pyjama set (£204).
