Grenada’s Grand Anse beach sees the opening of a new boutique resort, Silversands, with nine private villas (five beach-front and four hillside units are now on sale, from $5.6m) and a hotel with 43 suites (from $800; booking now for a November opening) gathered around the longest swimming pool in the Caribbean. There is also a spa, beach club and two restaurants.

Silversands has set up a seed nursery to source sustainable new crops for the island and is working with the Grenada Network of Rural Women Producers (GRENROP), which supports local female agricultural workers to ensure that the lion’s share of the fruit and vegetables on the hotel’s menus are home grown. The goal is to turn GRENROP into a profitable enterprise that brings economic stability to Grenada’s farming community.
