On August 2, Ladies’ Day at Goodwood sees the eighth running of the Magnolia Cup Charity Ladies’ Race contested by 12 non-professional jockeys, this year drawn from the worlds of sport, fashion, media and medicine. Hours later they will be guests of honour at the Raceweek Regency Ball in Goodwood house, which will be attended by over 500 revellers dressed in Regency costume. A champagne reception and dinner hosted by the Duke of Richmond will be followed by entertainment in the park, lit by flares as it would have been in the 18th century: there will be a match race between two horses, a carousel and dancing to the music of a female artist.
