When Adwoa Aboah tried to take her own life in 2015, aged 23, she was one of the most successful models in the world. But beneath the surface she was struggling with mental health issues and substance addiction. Two years on, the supermodel has decided to use her influence to help other young women suffering as she did by launching the website Gurls Talk, which offers a safe space for them to share their concerns and experiences. To raise funds for the charity, Dominic Jones, creative director of Astley Clarke, has designed a necklace (£50) full of fun and youthful optimism: an 18ct yellow gold vermeil chain hung with a red enamel pendant in the shape of the Gurls Talk mouth logo, one tooth adorned with a cultured white sapphire. “To be creating a piece of jewellery with so much character and meaning is a dream come true,” says Aboah. All profits will go to Gurls Talk.
