“You can have fun designing pyjamas, exploring designs and colours for men and women that you might not necessarily wear out of the house,” says Rebecca Fordham, founder of sleepwear e-tailer Tales of Thread. This could definitely be said for the men’s Pineapple pyjama set (£165) with its lime green and fuchsia screenprinted pattern, and the Ghana-inspired bright green women’s short-sleeve set (£120), all made in a cotton-silk blend.
For the more understated dresser, Tales of Thread’s classic collection includes ivory and navy PJ sets (from £105) and robes (from £115), which would look particularly smart monogrammed (from £15 per letter). Ten per cent of proceeds go to Cadling Foundation, which houses, trains and employs vulnerable women. Tales of Thread is continuing its pan-African inspiration in its new collection, available next month, which is influenced by Nigerian Yoruba textiles.
