Harry Winston watches for Countdown to a Cure

Funding the charity’s aim to find a cure for HIV by 2020

Harry Winston is ramping up its support for Aids‑research nonprofit Amfar with two watch designs for its Countdown to a Cure campaign, which aims to find a cure for HIV by 2020.


The timepieces – a limited edition of 40 (20 for men – pictured – and 20 for women) – share a white-gold bezel and a navy dial and strap (alligator for men, satin for women). The men’s version ($21,200) has a minute track in Amfar colours (a rainbow-like spectrum that symbolises the fade of the disease, from crisis to cure); the women’s ($16,200) is set with diamonds, pink, blue and yellow sapphires, rubies and garnets. “The Aids epidemic continues to take lives with every passing minute,” says Amfar CEO Kevin Robert Frost, “so this timepiece is a fitting symbol of the urgency with which we’re pursuing our goal.”
