Forget fancy diamonds and gemstones with hi-de-hi prices; I found jewellery just as delicious as anything to be found in the haute joalliers in a tiny shop in Florence, tucked away in the via Santo Spirito. Here were pieces made almost entirely from resin in a myriad colours and shapes. It was like a treasure-trove – drawers filled with bracelets, earrings, necklaces, brooches.
I could have bought almost the entire contents of the shop but instead came away with a couple of bold black and amber resin bracelets and some fabulous earrings made from what looks like carved jade but are, of course, resin. They have been hugely admired. None of them cost me more than £20.
They’re the brainchild of Angela Caputi and she has two shops in Florence, as well as one in Forte dei Marmi, one in Milan and another in Paris. Check her out online – for decorative pieces that add the right finishing touch, she’s hard to beat.
