Shopping online can be a minefield for those with a penchant for pre-loved designer fashion – counterfeit trade is rife, and for the uninitiated, it can be hard to avoid. It was exactly this conundrum that led to the launch of the designer resale site Fashion Bloodhound: a luxury-lover’s nirvana featuring pieces from designers such as Chloé, Miu Miu and Christian Louboutin.
The site is the creation of Graziella Pinto, a former model who (after honing her skills as an accessories buyer working alongside brands such as Missoni, Mulberry and Belstaff), used her contacts to set up a network of more than 10,000 design-loving clients who now provide the website with a daily selection of their nearly-new clothes, shoes and accessories – which are all in excellent condition.
The shop’s beautifully photographed (and fully authenticated) wares can be easily filtered by designer, category or trend. The last time I visited, standouts included a graphic printed Gucci silk wrap dress at £220 (which originally retailed at £450; fourth picture), as well as a pair of sky-high black cutout sandals by Yves Saint Laurent (third picture, £120) and Tom Ford’s cult 2009 Jennifer sunglasses – a snip at just £80 (second picture). Handbags are another strong point, and the two that caught my eye were a chic limited-edition leopard-print version of Mulberry’s classic Bayswater (first picture, £925) and an Alexander McQueen red polished leather satchel (£595).
And for those with their heart set on a sold-out, limited-edition or otherwise tricky-to-track-down luxury item, Fashion Bloodhound lives up to it name. The site’s team will scour their contacts and do their utmost to source and deliver the coveted piece – straight to the client’s door.
