Warm hands – and a clear conscience

The problem with March is that the shops are usually awash with bikinis, while out in the real world there’s often an arctic gale still a-blowing. Keep warm with pure alpaca throws, gloves and sweaters from Humm. Everything is designed in England by Amanda Ruiz (a Brit married to a Peruvian) but made in Peru from pure alpaca fibre by properly paid and looked-after skilled workers.

Alpaca, you might like to know, is not only very soft but it doesn’t cling (so it’s rather flattering), nor does it bobble or pill. Keep hands and fingers warm with Humm’s Machu Picchu mittens (pictured), £35.
