Whatever the recession pundits say, the luxury brand stores on the via Montenapoleone are packed: on Sunday of Italian fashion week, it took me about 10 minutes to go one block. Happily, though, I was heading off the beaten track to the best-kept fashion secret in Milan: the 10 Corso Como outlet store. There you can find last season’s Comme des Garçons, Lanvin, and Alaia at between 30 and 80 per cent off, and – here’s the thing – because store owner Carla Sozzani has such a good eye, the merchandise looks as cool and current as what’s on the catwalks now. I picked up a pair of Alaia suede and cork gladiator wedges for €150, just over a tenth the usual price.
