Charlotte Olympia Dellal’s shoe brand Charlotte Olympia is known for its old-fashioned Hollywood glamour and cat-motif pumps

My personal style signifiers are a pair of high heels, red lips, 1940s waves and a hat. I like to dress from the feet up.

The last thing I bought and loved was a fantastic high-waisted bikini by Adriana Degreas. She makes Brazilian swimwear with personality. I like it for its old-fashioned look, but it’s also ultra-modern, with red lips across the stomach. www.adrianadegreas.com.br.

And the thing I’m eyeing next is an Alex Prager photograph at the Michael Hoppen Gallery. It’s of a redhead in a bright turquoise skirt and red shoes hanging off a pylon. It was taken in LA and it’s pretty amazing. I think Prager is influenced by Guy Bourdin, who’s a fashion photographer I love, which is probably why I’m drawn to it. 3 Jubilee Place, London SW3 (020-7352 3649; www.michaelhoppengallery.com).

The best gift I’ve received recently was a beautiful gold and diamond ring from my husband. It’s from Venyx and is shaped like a tortoise shell. I’m not the biggest jewellery person, but he knows what I like. www.venyxworld.com.

If I didn’t live in London, the city I would live in is Rio; I’m half-Brazilian, so it’s my home away from home. The first thing I do when I arrive and the last thing I do before I leave is go for a run up and down Ipanema beach; the view is one of my favourites in the world. I go to Carioca da Gema in Lapa for all-night samba dancing, and Jardim Botânico, which has beautiful plants and flowers. There are some amazing juice bars – Bibi Sucos in Leblon is great – and the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy keeps my husband and three boys happy. Bibi Sucos, +5521-2259 0000; www.bibisucos.com.br. Carioca da Gema, +5521-2221 0043; www.barcariocadagema.com.br. Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy, +1310-353 4100; www.gracieacademy.com. Jardim Botânico, +5521-3874 1808.

The best souvenirs I’ve brought home are some 1950s ceramic mermaids from Lincoln Road Antique & Collectible Market in Miami. I’ve always liked mermaids and collect them wherever I go. They’re whimsical and feminine, plus it’s ironic that they can’t wear shoes. Lincoln Road Mall, Miami Beach, FL 33139 www.lincolnroadmall.info.

The site that inspires me is Burgh Island, an art-deco hotel off the coast of Devon. It’s thought that it’s where Agatha Christie wrote Evil Under the Sun, which is one of my favourites of her novels. Burgh Island, South Devon TQ7 4BG (01548-810 514 www.burghisland.com).

The last item of clothing I added to my wardrobe was an embellished white jumper from Isa Arfen. I’m not really into casual clothes, but this has a touch of glamour. www.isaarfen.com.

A recent “find” is Stephen Einhorn in Islington. He makes beautiful cuff links and I had an art-deco-inspired pair made for my husband. I’ve never designed them before, but I had a strong idea of what I wanted and he translated it perfectly. 210 Upper Street, London N1 (020-7359 4977; www.stepheneinhorn.co.uk).

The beauty staple I’m never without is Mac’s Ruby Woo lipstick. I wear very little make-up otherwise, but I use By Terry’s Touch-Expert highlighter to brighten up my eyes. Sisley’s Black Rose Cream Mask keeps my skin feeling hydrated; Caudalie’s Divine Oil for body, face and hair smells amazing and Bioderma Sensibio’s H2O is the perfect cleanser. Bioderma Sensibio H2O, £10; www.bioderma.com. By Terry Touch-Expert, £32; www.byterry.com. Caudalie Divine Oil, £27; uk.caudalie.com. Mac Ruby Woo lipstick, £15; www.maccosmetics.co.uk. Sisley’s Black Rose Cream Mask, £93; www.sisley-paris.com.

My favourite websites are The Nifty Fifties, which celebrates an era I love, Lacoqueta Kids, a Spanish children’s clothing brand, and Fears and Kahn, for its furniture and accessories. I bought a ceramic leopard for my LA store from there. I have another leopard called Bruce in my London store that belonged to my husband’s grandmother; he’s now my mascot. www.fearsandkahn.co.uk. www.lacoquetakids.com. www.theniftyfifties.tumblr.com.
