The royal wedding is over, but even in China everyone was talking about it. I even got several messages from my Chinese customers assuming that I was actually invited to the royal wedding and therefore not able to meet with them until next week.
I had the pleasure of meeting Prince William few years ago in St Andrews when I was working for Alfred Dunhill, which was the sponsor of the Links tournament. Well, unfortunately, I was working in China and I did not even have time to watch the wedding. I will be coming to Europe very soon, first to see the newly renovated Number One Savile Row, the former Royal Geographical Society building and the flagship store of Gieves and Hawkes, the wonderful brand for gentlemen. I had the pleasure to help my dear friend, John Durnin, the CEO of the brand, to rejuvenate the old building. I only saw some photos of it last week, and it looks wonderful and truly carries the values of Englishness with elegance, humour and quirkiness.
I am looking forward to my next European trip as it will take me from Paris to the Champagne area, then to the south-west of France (Cognac) and then to London and Scotland. As I don’t drive in China – too dangerous – I hope this trip will allow me to spend some time behind the driving wheel of my beloved Alvis.
It is interesting to notice that more and more foreigners are coming to live in China, especially in Shanghai. So the services offered to those expats are getting much better every day – great news!
