There was a flutter of excitement in the studio on Friday afternoon – our annual Christmas party was on for later in the evening. As always, we closed the studio early to allow all our staff to go home and get ready. We have been celebrating our Christmas party at Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud for the past 10 years, and this year 32 of our employees joined us, all wearing John Rocha – except Raymond, an excellent 73-year-old pattern cutter; I wasn’t sure I had any menswear to suit him!

The party is always wonderful, and was no less so this year; we had a table quiz, played charades and handed out our Kris Kindle. Odette and I left the restaurant at 1.30am, but the staff continued the party back at the studio, where they had a good reserve of wine ready. God knows what time they finished.… but I believe it was close to 6am.

Saturday and Sunday were spent resting up from all the festivities and a busy week. Now I am looking forward to the week ahead. Karl Plewka, my show stylist, is over in Dublin for a meeting on Wednesday – so, of course, there is plenty of work to do.
