Last year, Save the Children’s online Killer Heels auction raised enough funds to buy pneumonia vaccines and malaria nets for more than 1,000 children. This year, from now until December 4, the non-profit is turning auctioneer again – with a finely tuned collection of handbags. Christian Louboutin, Chanel, Prada and Miu Miu are among the donated labels, alongside past-season rarities, including Matthew Williamson’s 2010 Bulgari designs. Well-known names such as Samantha Cameron, Sienna Miller and Erin O’Connor have also donated pieces.

The charity hopes to raise £20,000 and is also asking the public to donate designer bags to Save the Children stores for a nationwide bag sale running until the end of the year. All proceeds will fund projects to distribute vaccines and malaria nets and tackle poverty issues, which claim the lives of around 8m children every year.
