July saw El Bulli close its Michelin-starred doors for the very last time, but on October 29 a select few gastronomes will be treated to a taste of one of the world’s most influential restaurants when El Bulli’s new catering arm, headed up by chef Paco Roncero, will début an exclusive menu created for the Grey Goose Winter Ball.

Since 2006, an annual benefit (a winter-themed counterpart to the White Tie and Tiara Ball) has made more than £1.8m for the Elton John Aids Foundation, a grant-making non-profit that has raised more than $220m for community projects in 55 countries. This year, all ticket proceeds (and funds raised by auction lots such as a one-off Christian Louboutin-designed cocktail bar) will be distributed among projects in the UK and abroad, including an initiative in Cambodia run by Habitat for Humanity that builds sustainable housing for families affected by HIV and Aids.
