As the World Cup kicks off, Italian photographer Luca Zordan and South Africa-born stylist Alethea Gold stage a timely launch for Children of Africa: South African Edition (£22.50), a hardbound collection of colour photographs taken during the pair’s travels through the country’s townships.

All proceeds from the sales will go to MaAfrika Tikkun, a Johannesburg-based non-profit for orphans and underprivileged children that will fund sport projects for children in townships – specifically, comprehensive football training.

“These are children who have very few opportunities to play,” says Gold. “We were present recently as the charity handed out soccer boots and balls on the pitch; seeing how much it meant to [the children] overwhelmed us all.”
