Here’s a new idea on the cracker front, and a nice double whammy. Buy them knowing that the gift inside has been made by disadvantaged and fairly paid women in Nepal, then, once Christmas is over, plant the outer paper and wild flowers, it seems, will grow.
The genius idea was to make the crackers themselves from seed paper. Inside each is a motto, a hat and a selection of gifts – either key-rings, brooches, decorations or small toys, while the outside is embellished with dried plants. They cost £28 for six.
