He used to rule the fairways, but it is Greg Norman’s ever-expanding commercial portfolio that now draws the crowds. Keen golfers from Egypt to Australia tee off on Norman-designed courses (possibly clad in the Australian golfer’s pro-apparel), oenophiles sample his wines, while foodies will be familiar with his South Carolina eatery, Australian Grille, where his branded Wagyu beef is served.
Now Norman has teamed up with Scottish whisky brand Johnnie Walker to create a line of luxury leather bags, exclusive to Harrods. The limited-edition collection includes a large leather Venturer case complete with suit compartment, hip flask, four stainless-steel cups and – of course – a bottle of Johnnie Walker’s rarest blend, Blue Label. There are just 331 Venturer bags – 331 being the precise number of days Norman held the golfing top spot – and they cost £1,500 each. A small, slim carry bag and butter-soft black holdall (both also including a bottle of the famous scotch) weigh in at a much lighter £240 and £275.
