These days it’s not only the technology we carry about that counts, but
how we choose to transport all of these gadgets and devices. Every luxury brand
worth its salt now makes cases and covers, and, as a result, tech accessories
have become the new statement bag – which makes HardGraft, an e-shop full of
elegantly simple technology accoutrements, all the more of a find.
Founded in 2008, HardGraft is the work of an Austrian-English design duo who create products made of German wool felt, premium Italian leather, and British heavyweight waxed canvas – all of which have a decidedly European aesthetic and are as functional as they are fashionable. While its main thrust centres on products for smartphones, tablets (first picture) and computers, it also has a broader lifestyle base – weekend bags, wallets and footwear for the discerning style aficionado are all easily procured from this sleek, well-edited boutique.
Twelve categories allow for targeted product searches, from iPhone cases to MacBook Air covers to a Bags & Travel section. The selection has an understated, quasi-rustic chic, as well as being water repellant (for the most part) and shock absorbent, too. The mix of materials presents an array of formal and more casual finishes, many of which deepen in colour and patina over time.
MacBook Air and Pro sleeves in cool charcoal hues are available from 11in to 17in models (from £72), as are lightweight Flat Pack bags (£234) in waxed cotton – they are ideal for cyclists who need protection from the elements without added bulk. Traditional types will favour both structured Double Take Weekend bags (third picture, £594) and the Old Fashioned laptop bag (£354) in supple leather, while a relaxed chic handmade Grocery Bag (second picture, £234) with extra-wide handles is a comfortable multipurpose carryall. Rounding off the top-to-toe offerings are a range of boots for men. Vintage-inspired Men’s High Boots (£360) in tan, dove grey and light beige are handcrafted from vegetable tanned and soft calf leather with thick soles of wood and rubber, while Zip Boot versions (£360) offer a slightly more polished look.
Lifestyle basics with a weekend-meets-office aesthetic are but a click away.
