Whenever anyone asks me who is the most exciting designer in London right now, my answer is always “Todd Lynn”. What makes him special is the quality (near couture, in runs of about 20 a garment) and the cut of his tough, monochrome tailoring, with flashes of leather, for men and women.

Lynn’s look is dark Victoriana with a twist of Patti Smith in the 1970s and a swirl of the Japanese avant garde. I love the drama and sexiness of what he does; the way his clothes are so chic and wearable. Lynn, who has been nominated for Menswear Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards on December 9, sells at Browns, but, for the ultimate rock-star experience (he makes all U2’s stage wear), he works on bespoke commissions from upwards of around £5,000.
