January 20 2011
An early start this morning and a beautiful crisp Parisian morning at that. Café au lait for breakfast and then off to our Paris showroom in Rue St Nicolas, where the team have now installed the gorgeous spring collections. They have done a fantastic job – it looks absolutely beautiful and a real breath of springtime. I am delighted with the results. While at Rue St Nicolas, I popped into my friend Françoise Dorget’s extraordinary emporium, Caravane. She has such wonderful things and, as usual, I am sorely tempted by her accessories, candles and gorgeous linens.
Having succumbed to temptation at Caravane, I go in search of dahlias to finish the displays – not an easy feat in the middle of January. In fact impossible – so I find some stunning clematis and even early delphiniums instead. Next I make a dash to the exhibition stand where the rest of the team are busy transforming another little piece of Paris into Designers Guild. The results are fabulous, and we are all on a high from the adrenaline of working under pressure.
We leave the exhibition late but in time for me to have a drink with my brother Simon Jeffreys, who is my business partner, and my gorgeous colleague Amanda Back at The Ritz. It’s great to have a catch-up in such glamorous surroundings. Afterwards it’s Chez Georges for dinner with the team. I love it there – always a great atmosphere and delicious food. Press launch tomorrow so I’ll try to have an early night and do my homework!
