I could list dozens of places to find beautiful flowers, but, for the height of floral couture, I have yet to find a florist that compares to the largely unsung Flower Shop At The Ivy. Having remained a reserve of the elite since its conception in 2008, the shop has racked up an impressive client list as revered as its culinary counterpart. Stella McCartney is numbered among its fans, along with the Burberry creatives, London’s top hotels (think the Grosvenor, Egerton and the Dukes), and an endless roster of businesswomen and renowned billionaires that design director Jane Wadham insists is highly confidential.
The clincher? An online ordering system – perfect for those who can’t easily venture to Mayfair – and a delivery service that caters to most of the UK. Their arrangements (prices start at £48; autumnal arrangement, pictured, £95) are constantly redesigned, but, for those floristic connoisseurs, they also offer a bespoke service. Go for the open claret amaryllis, scented eucalyptus pods and white scented hyacinths – a selection that I’ve heard are set to be the big hitters in this season’s winter arrangements.
