Cityscapes are the latest source of inspiration for many a craftsman and woman, whether Jessica McCormack’s jewellery (written about here a few weeks ago) or Charlene Mullen’s embroidered cushions.
Mullen’s cushions, mostly black stitched onto white wool, are almost as beautiful as paintings. Choose from The River Thames (£162.50, a long, horizontal cushion which includes cranes, spires, St Paul’s and a red London bus), The Gherkin (pictured; £112.50, a square picture of, yes, the Gherkin, as well as cranes and surrounding buildings), and The Tower of London (£112.50, square with a picture of Tower Bridge and a helicopter). They’re full of charm and wit.
