Linen that’s soft on the skin, and easy on the conscience

Despite being a bed and bedlinen addict, I had never heard of Liv until I was given a set of its towels. I was instantly smitten by the softness of the cotton and, because they are both Fairtrade and organic, I loved them even more, having recently discovered what horrors are committed – to both human beings and the planet – in the name of cotton production around the world. Liv, I subsequently found, is owned by the same people who distribute Dr Hauschka, the cult organic beauty brand, in the UK.

Liv organic homeware also includes bedlinen made from crisp 220 thread-count organic and Fairtrade certified cotton (double flat sheets from £34.26; double duvet sets from £68.54). The towels, which are finished without harsh chemical softeners or chlorine, are available in three colours: organic white, natural and mocha (from £9.74 for a hand towel to £27.40 for a bath sheet).
