It’s a useful, if unglamorous, device for wireless recharging

This is the latest of the new generation of wireless charging gadgets, and it has its pluses and minuses.

What I like is the way the Powermat gives a little chirrup when you place a BlackBerry or whatever (see the website) on it to charge. It’s reassuring to know that it’s properly in place and receiving a charge. What I’m less than thrilled by is that the jackets in which you encase your device to be charged have an annoying little swelling on them, which spoils the svelte lines of the original.

The Powermat, which can charge three devices at once, comes in two models, one for the office desk and one for taking on trips. Useful, if not the most glam gadget I’ve seen.
