Diamonds, champagne, a casino and a black-tie dinner – a “Boodles & Bond” evening on February 11 will bring glamour to the already elegant Chester Grosvenor hotel (first picture), which is housed in a charming black-and-white timbered listed building in the centre of the historic town.

It’s fitting that Taittinger is the tipple on offer at the reception, since it was Ian Fleming’s favourite champagne and got the nod in at least four of his Bond novels, including Casino Royale. The Bond theme continues on the night as Justin Llewelyn, brand ambassador for Taittinger, will share some anecdotes about his actor father, Desmond Llewelyn, aka the much-loved gadget genius Q, who appeared in 17 Bond films from 1963 to 1999.

Another star, of the Michelin variety, will light up the evening, as the bespoke menu (three courses, with wines) is being prepared by the Chester Grosvenor’s executive chef Simon Radley, and held in The Westminster Suite private dining rooms.

And what about Bond Girls? These will be provided by the British fine jeweller Boodles in the form of models dazzling in the Roulette (second picture) and Velocity (third picture) collections of diamond and white, yellow and rose gold pendants, bracelets and earrings.

Don’t forget to tell your driver you’ll be needing the Aston Martin for the night.
