Mouthwatering masterclasses at Coworth Park

Coworth Park is one of the few hotels in the world to have its own chocolate room, so it would seem the perfect setting in which to explore exactly how this cocoa-based product can enhance a dish – both sweet and savoury. The February 11 class, the World of Chocolate, will also expound upon the history of the so-called food of the gods and teach guests how to prepare truffles. It is the first in the hotel’s series of 2013 masterclasses, and presents the perfect chance to impress a beloved for Valentine’s Day.

Spring sees the English Asparagus Masterclass on April 29; the celebration of this classic British vegetable will offer a variety of recipes for starters, party canapés and dinner-party dishes. Next up is the Best of British Farmhouse Cheeses on August 12, where food and wine pairing is explored with an expert in the field, together with a guest speaker. It also includes an in-depth look at the production of cheese, how it is best ripened and cut, and how to use it in cooking. The hour-and-a-half-long classes (£175) are for between seven and 15 people, and are followed by a three-course lunch with wine.

Lastly – and this may well chime a bell right now – is the Christmas Made Easy Masterclass.  Those wondering how to enjoy the festive season and create the perfect mulled wine, mince pies or Christmas pudding should sign up swiftly.
