Showered with flecks of light from the Baccarat chandelier overhead and flanked by views of its maple-lined courtyard, The Corinthia London’s Lobby Lounge is a grand spot for afternoon tea. And in February, like many a venue in the capital’s luxury arsenal, it is honouring Valentine’s Day with a time-limited festive offering.

However, the young hotel’s Sensory Afternoon Tea is no twee affair. Served with Laurent-Perrier Rosé NV champagne, the menu is designed to awaken the senses via sweet options ranging from rich Guanaja chocolate mousse with rose-tea infusion to moist almond and pistachio dacquoise and crunchy choux filled with lavender cream – along with the requisite scones and finger sandwiches (think Loch Var smoked salmon and roast sirloin fillings).

Creating a luxury-brand love triangle (of sorts) will be the addition of an Ambre candle sitting atop each table, a heavy vanilla-bourbon-infused delight created especially for the occasion by world-renowned nose Roja Dove. It has been made in very limited numbers, and is also available (as a complimentary gift) for Harrods customers purchasing a magnum of Laurent-Perrier Rosé NV.
