There’s no need to keep the champagne on ice here

The skiing trip bubbles over

If you find yourself on Aspen Mountain and fancy a quick, ski-in/ski-out glass of bubbly, then your wish is The Little Nell’s command. The hotel – famous for its superlative service – is injecting some fizz into winter-season weekends with a pop-up champagne bar on the slopes. The Oasis is of no fixed abode, so skiers will need to keep an eye on The Little Nell Facebook page and Twitter to gather clues that will help pinpoint which scenic spot to head for.

The champagne on offer is Veuve Clicquot, and at a reasonable price: $15 per glass or $225 for a bottle of Veuve Grande Dame (the best deal in town). Payment is by credit card only, which saves cold fingers scrabbling around for cash – and is great for those who’ve been organised enough to put their credit-card details on their ski pass.

My advice? Pop in for just one flute per visit, otherwise it could be the start of a very slippery slope.
