“Two of the
best reasons to visit South Africa are its wine and its wildlife,” says How
To Spend It contributor and convivial wine guru Tom Harrow, aka WineChap.
To which end, he has just announced that he is offering a limited number of
places on a very smart and luxurious three-night safari weekend, Game Drives
& Wine Flights, taking place for the first time later this year at the
exclusive private game reserve Sabi Sabi in South Africa.
During the day, the nine guests can safari on the magnificent plains to get up close and personal with the Big Five, while over lunches and dinners Harrow will guide them through some of South Africa’s greatest wines, expertly matched with dishes prepared by the Sabi Sabi Earth Lodge’s chef. Wines will include some of his personal favourites from the flagship Journey’s End, Ken Forrester Estate and Stellenrust – whose makers, the inimitable Ken Forrester and Tertius Boschoff of the mighty Stellenrust, will join guests to showcase, share and talk about their wines.
“Watch a pride of lions with Ken Forrester while savouring his iconic The Gypsy,” says Harrow, “or enjoy Stellenrust’s Douwe Steyn with Tertius Boschoff as elephants gather at the watering hole.”
You have to admit, it does sound tempting…
