Didier Benderli, a protégé of Jacques Garcia, has redesigned the rooms (at a cost of up to €120,000 apiece) of Le Pavillon de la Reine (www.pavillon-de-la-reine.com; doubles from €380), an elegant 17th-century hôtel particulier on Paris’s exquisite Place des Vosges – one of the loveliest, most secluded hotels in the city even when it still had cork-tiled 1970s bathrooms. Expect something altogether more splendid after its big reveal.
